Since there is no real consistency in HO slot
car grading,
I USE THE TOY GRADING SCALE. It is as follows:
BODY GRADING SCALE:
C10 - Mint. No flaws. 100% chrome,
paint
C9 - Shows very minor wear. Bright
clean 90% chrome, color & paint
C8 - Shows little wear. 80%chrome,
very light scratches, little or no paint wear.
C7 - Has wear, some scratches,
some paint loss. 70% chrome & paint.
C6 - Chrome is worn, medium scratches,
some collectibility. 60% chrome & paint
C5 - Chrome heavily worn, several
scratches, paint partly visible. Not very collectible. 50% chrome &
paint.
C4 thru C1 - Good for runners and
painting. Not collectible. Gouged & heavily worn.
" + " following scale indicates
better than actual grade. Chassis (if included) should equal body scale.
Deduct 1 grade if not equal to body.
ADJUSTMENT CODES:
CP - cracked post(s)
WC - Cut wheel wells
WT - Trimmed wheel wells
PT - painted
PR - Paint restored
RP - Repro Parts
BW - Bent window post
MC - Missing Chrome
MG - Missing Glass
MP - Missing Parts
BO - Body Only
BOX or CARD GRADES C1-C10
C10 being 100% mint. no flaws. Deduct 1 grade for each flaw: lithography,
fading, yellowing, rot, wrinkles, etc. Boxes and card must have all printed
literature accompanying. NO empty boxes!
